"The Number"
"666"
“Six” is either (4 plus 2), i.e., man`s “world.” (4) with man`s “enmity” to God (2) brought in : or it is (5 plus 1), the “grace of God” made of none effect by “man`s addition” to it, or “perversion,” or “corruption” of it: or it is (7 minus 1), i.e., man`s coming short of “spiritual perfection.” In any case, therefore, it has to do with man: it is the number of “imperfection:” the human number: the number of Man as destitute of God, without God, without Christ.
At any rate it is certain that man was created on the sixth day, and thus he has the number “six” impressed upon him. Moreover, six days were appointed to him for his labor: while one day is associated in sovereignty with the Lord God, as His rest.
‘Six,’ therefore, is the number of labor also, of man`s labor as apart and distinct from God`s rest. True, it marks the completion of Creation as God`s work, and therefore the number is significant of secular completeness.
The serpent also was created on the sixth day.
The Sixth Commandment relates to the worst six, “murder.”
The sixth clause of the Lord`s prayer treats of “sin.”
“Six” is the number stamped on all that is connected with human labor. We see it stamped upon measures which he uses in his labor, and on the time during which he labors. And we see this from the very beginning.
The number “six” is stamped upon the measurements of the great Pyramid, the unit of which was the inch and its sexagesimal (sixth, of or based on the number sixty) multiples. The first multiple is the foot, 12 inches (2x6): and after this rises are 18 (3x6), 24 (4x6), 30 (5x6), and 36 (6x6) or (6 to the second power), equal the yard.
Corresponding to these measures we have the first division of the natural time spaces which measure man`s labor and rest, the day consisting of 24 hours (4x6), divided into day and night of 12 hours. The multiples and sub divisions are also stamped by the number six. The months being 12: while the hours consist of 60 minutes (6x10), and the minutes of 60 seconds (6x10).
The base of the Great Pyramid shows that the unit inch was obtained by a division of the original circle, 36,000 inches or 1,000 yards.
On account of the curse (Genesis the third chapter), the number six tells not only of labor, but of "labor and sorrow," and it specially marks all that is "under the sun," all that is "not of God." The true "sabbath keeping," now, is in reserve: for there is no rest apart from "peace with God": the rest which God gives and which we find (Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.)."Is the number of a name," (Revelation 13:17-18
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.).
When the name of Antichrist is known his number will doubtless be found to be the number “666.” But this number has, a far deeper reference to and connection with the secret mysteries of the ancient religions, which will again be manifested in connection with the last “Great Apostasy.”
Many names may be found, the numerical value of whose letters amounts to “666.” Most of them are ridiculous, inasmuch as instead of the number being confined to Hebrew and Greek (which have no Arabic or other special signs for figures), the principle is extended to names in English, French, and other modern languages, on the assumption that they would have been spelt in exactly the same way: whereas we know that names both of persons and places are not simply transliterated in various languages. It is absurd therefore to attempt to take words from the modern European languages which use Arabic figures.
Numbers is not a means by which the names is to be discovered: but it will be a test and a proof by which the names may be identified after the person is revealed.
If “six” is the number of secular or human perfection, then “66” is a more emphatic expression of the fact, and “666” is therefore the trinity of human perfection of imperfection: the culmination of human pride in independence of God and opposition to His Christ.
The number, however, has to be computed, Greek, “pseephizo,” to reckon, to calculate, not merely to count or enumerate. (Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.). Therefore it is not to be known by numbers merely, though, as we have said, that will be one of the factors in the calculation, just as the letters in the word Jesus amount to “888.”

But “666” was the “secret symbol” of the ancient pagan mysteries connected with the worship of the Devil. It is today the secret connecting link between those ancient mysteries and their modern revival in “Spiritualism,” “Theosophy,” etc. The efforts of the great enemy are now directed towards uniting all into one great whole. The newspapers, radios, televisions, worldly and religions, are full of schemes as to such a union. "Reunion" is in the air. The societies for the reunion of Christians, and the Conferences for the reunion of the Churches, are alike, parts of the same great movement, and all making for and signs of the coming “Apostasy.” During this age, "Separation" is God`s word for His people, and is the mark of Christ: while "union" and "reunion" is the mark of Antichrist. (2 Corinthians 6:17-18 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.).
The number “6” was stamped on the old mysteries. The great secret symbol consisted of three letters “SSS,” because the letter “S” in the Greek alphabet was the symbol of the figure “6.” (a=1), (b=2), (y=3),(e=5), but when it came to “6,” another letter was introduced! Not the next, the sixth letter (“zeta”), but a different letter, a peculiar form of “S,” called "stigma" (“s”). Now the Greek word orlyua (“stigma”), means a mark, but especially a mark made by a brand as burnt upon slaves, cattle, or soldiers, by their owners or masters: or on devotees who thus branded themselves as belonging to their gods. It is from the Greek, “Oruw.” Hence it came to be used of scars or wound prints, and is used by Paul of his scars, which he regarded as the tokens of his sufferings, the marks which he bore on his body for the sake of his Lord and Master, and marking him as belonging to the one who had brought him (Galatians 6:17, From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus).
This letter is becoming familiar to us now: and it is not pleasant when we see many thus marked (ignorantly, no doubt) with the symbolical "S," "S," especially when it is connected, not with "salvation," but with judgment, and is associated with "blood and fire," which, in (Joel 2:30-31,
And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.). Is given as one of the awful signs "before the great and terrible day of the Lord come."Apostasy is before us. The “religion of Christ” has, in the past, has been “opposed” and “corrupted,” but when it once comes, as it has come in our day, to be “mocked”, there is nothing left but judgment. There is nothing more the enemy can do before he proceeds to build up the great “apostasy” on the ruins of “true religion,” and thus prepare the way for the coming of the Judge.
It is remarkable that the Romans did not use all the letters of their alphabet, as did the Hebrews and Greeks. They used only six letters, (D),(C),(L),(X),(V), and (I). And it is still more remarkable, and perhaps significant, that the sum of these amounts to 666:- 1. (D=500) 2. (C=100) 3. (L= 50) 4. (X=10) 5. (V= 5) 6. (I= 1) =
( 666).In each of the three pairs there is an additional of one, for 6=(5+1). It is the grace of God superseded by the corruption of man.
It will be seen from this that the number “666” is very far reaching, and is filled with a meaning deeper, perhaps, than anything we have yet discovered. One thing, however, is certain, and that is, that the triple “6” marks the culmination of man`s opposition to God in the person of the coming Antichrist (Satan).

For the Deeper Bible Scholars, and (Supposed Christians), would understand that this mark began back in (Genesis 4:15
And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.).Now many thousands of the Greek words, of which the New Testament is composed, have been counted, and only (Five) words have so far been discovered which have the number “666” hidden behind them. The first of these (Five) words occurs in the story of the sudden storm on the lake of Galilee. The Lord Jesus is asleep in the boat, and terrified by the violence of the storm, the disciples awake Him with the cry, “Lord, save us: we perish.”
The incident is related in (Matthew 8:25
And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. Mark 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? Luke 8:24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.), and the wording of the “cry” is different in each case, the Holy Spirit evidently giving the despairing cry of three different disciples in the boat, yet the same word, “Apollumetha,” “we perish,” occurs in each Gospel, and the number behind it is the mystic number “666”!Like so many of our Lord`s miracles, the incident is evidently a typical one, and shows us the picture of the Church of Christ in jeopardy. The cause of the danger is described by each writer, it is that the boat was becoming filled with water. Now water is a type of the world, (Revelation 17:15
And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.), the church is intended to be in the world, even as the ship is in the sea, but just as it is dangerous to let the water get into the ship, so it is dangerous when the world gets into the church.(John 17:16
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.), says our Lord to His disciples. The world, however, got into the church in its early days, and now the church is nearly full of the world, even as “the ship was covered with waves.” Dances, theatricals, social hours, worldly singing are common things in churches, and it is all done in the name of religion!Thus we have reached the Time of the End, when the true Church of Christ, imperiled by the near setting up of the Antichrist, is crying to the Savior to save it from the danger, and according to His promise, call it up to meet Him in the air.
Hence the first use of this number is in a type picture of the deadly peril of the church, when the world has filled it, and its rescue from this danger by the voice of Christ, Himself stilling the storm
The second word with this number is “Paradosis,” “Tradition.” It occurs significantly “Thirteen” times only ! The first place is in (Matthew 15:2-3
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Matthew 15:6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.), where our Lord ask the Pharisees, “Why do ye also transgress the commandments of God by your tradition?”He adds, quoting from (Isaiah 29:13
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:), and (Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.). “But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”The chief peril of the true church consists of the departure from God`s own Word. The largest nominal body, the Roman Catholic Church, deliberately places the teaching of the “Mother Church” above the “God breathed” Scriptures. The destructive characteristic of the nominal church is stamped by God, through this word “tradition,” with this terrible number “666.” The chart and compass of God`s people is ever God`s “Holy Word.” No traditions of men, miscalled church teaching, should ever be allowed to supplant it.
The third word is “Pleuran,” “Side,” and occurs Five times, first in (John 19:34
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.). This word “pleura” is always used in the accusative case, “pleuran,” and in this form it counts up to “666.” (John 20:20 And when he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.).Our Lord was already dead. The “Atoning Sacrifice” was complete, there needed nothing further, the work was done when He cried, “It is finished” and “gave up the ghost.” The offering had been made “once for all,” it needs no repetition. Yet here was one, a Roman, daring to pretend to finish the work, and today he has many imitators, who offers what they call the sacrifice of the mass, which they declare to be an actual reenactment of the dread scene on Calvary. All such “blasphemous fables,” as our Book of Common Prayer calls the Sacrifices of Masses, God stamps with the awful number “666,” the number of the Beast!
The fourth word is “Euporia,” “Wealth.” It only occurs in (Acts 19:25
Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.). Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines for Diana, thereby getting “no small gain,” calls together his fellow craftsmen, and says to them, “Sir, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.”The word “wealth,” then. is stamped by God with this dreadful number “666,” for the worship of graven images is an abomination in God`s sight. Yet this terrible sin is rampant in the nominal church today, and houses of prayer are filled with images, while many are erected in the streets, and thousands set up graven images in their own homes before which they bow. It is all leading up rapidly to that day when the “Image of the Beast,” whose number is “666,” will be set up, and worship of it will be compulsory on pain of death. That terrible man of sin, who will declare himself to be God incarnate!
The fifth word will be found in (1 Peter 1:1
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,), “Diasporas,” “Scattered.” This letter is thus addressed to the “scattered” saints of God, and this word is stamped with this number “666,” because the true Church of God would be persecuted and “scattered” down all the centuries by those who love the world, traditions, the sacrifice of the mass, wealth, and image worship, better than the things of God. The “Beast,” which has scattered the true church, is rearing today more arrogantly than ever, and conditions are rapidly maturing for the final full revelation of the “Mystery of Iniquity,” (2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.), following the gathering of the Saints.Our apprehension and interpretation of the phenomena maybe marked with many imperfections, and we are conscious that after all we have but touched the fringe of this, great and important subject.
One thing, however, is certain, and that is, that we have, in the Scripture of Truth, a revelation from God, absolutely without error, and whatever difficulties we may encounter is seeking to understand it, they are all the outcome of our own infirmities.
Of another thing we are also certain, that the “Written Word” cannot be separated from the “Living Word,” nor the spiritual meaning of the one understood without a living union with the other. (Luke 24:45
